When a launch a new version of minecraft in the new launcher it will not save the files. This happens when i launch mods so I need to go to the old launcher and start minecraft. I try to launch a modpack from the curse launcher but it starts the new launcher and the modpack dont start. When I 'upgraded' to Twitch, it kept the same install folder. Anyway, you can find the default folder within the Twitch App settings. Just click on the settings cog wheel in the bottom left and then navigate to the tab on the left, near the bottom called Minecraft. You should be able to locate the default pathway there, and change it, if need be.
